Educational quality of the programme
At VUB the quality of the education takes centre stage. This isn't something we say lightly: we scrutinise our programmes regularly to align them with changing student needs in a rapidly changing society. Additionally, the engineering programmes in Flanders are audited by an external commission: Commission des Titres d’Ingénieurs (CTI, France).

- A combination of theory and practical skills, as we use a diversity of didactic formats, including exercises and/or labs for nearly all courses;
- A good balance between basic subjects and in-depth courses, thanks to elective course modules and topical days organised by SCK CEN;

Opportunities
To ensure the quality of the programme, BNEN has been structurally embedding several quality-monitoring actions since 2015, involving students, teaching staff, alumni and the industry:
- We continually exchange views with stakeholders (nuclear industry, nuclear regulator, waste management agency) to understand the changing environment of nuclear energy in Belgium and if necessary to reorient the BNEN programme.
- We regularly assess the quality of our teaching material and didactic approaches and upgrade or innovate these whenever needed.
- The calendar (equilibrium of semesters, efficient use of time slots) will be investigated to see whether optimizations are needed to better accomodate staff, young professionals and their employers.
