Impressive participation of VUB students at LIMUN

In February, the 24th London International Model United Nations took place. An enthusiastic team of approximately twenty VUB students from various bachelor's and master's programmes successfully attended this year's conference. We are impressed by the team's dedication and the numerous awards they brought home.

At the London International Model United Nations (LIMUN), the students of the VUB Model United Nations team (VUBMUN) could immerse themselves in the positions of various countries, including their own, as well as a broad range of topics. The team participated in a diverse range of committees, such as the League of Nations, UN Women, IMF, NATO, WHO, UNHRC, UNSC, GA, COPUOUS, ECOSOC and UNDP. This way, they could gain invaluable experience in international diplomacy and cooperation.

After numerous hours of training, late-night feedback sessions and working tirelessly, the VUBMUN team achieved resounding success. Some of the students even received some prestigious awards:

  • Best Delegate Award – Sam Singh (MA in Management) and Ioan-Gabriel Cretu (BA in Social Sciences) for representing Gabon in the UNSC

  • Best Delegate Award – Alexander Van de Sande (MA International and European Law) for representing Saudi-Arabia in ECOSOC

  • Best Delegate Award – Dalia van Damme (MA International and European Law) for representing Japan in UNHRC

  • Most Improved Delegate Award – Mieke Löhrer (Ma European and International Governance) for representing Italy in the GA Sixth Committee (Legal)

  • Honourable Mention – Hannes Matthys (BA Business Economics) for representing Namibia in WHO

Needless to state our VUB community is very proud of their achievements. We hope they enjoyed this exceptional experience and the beautiful city of London as well.
