Fundamental research in AI today: Inaugural lecture Willy Calewaert Chair by Luc Steels

The Inaugural Lecture will start at 19:00 at the Royal Library of Belgium. It will be preceded by early access to a fascinating exhibition on the AI avant-garde in the 1980s and 1990s. The evening will conclude with a festive reception. 

The VUB AI Lab is the oldest artificial intelligence laboratory on the European continent. 

The Willy Calewaert Chair examines socially relevant topics and disseminates liberal humanist thought through education. Every year, VUB collaborates with deMens.nu for this purpose. In 2023-2024, Luc Steels, founder of the AI lab, holds the chair with the topic 'AI in perspective'.
