About the chair
The master class within the chair provides participants with the latest insights in strategic management and leadership, aligned with today's challenges and future expectations. Through interactive sessions, case studies, practical skill labs and inspiring guest lectures, participants will gain actionable experience and learn to make strategic decisions that promote organizational resilience and growth. The master class series will take place monthly at the iconic Stack House Entrepot beginning in September 2024. These lectures frame together within a series to provide research-based "futureproof leadership and strategy" and deliver a certificate of participation and/or VUB micro-credentials to do so.

Objectives
In addition to in-depth knowledge and practical tools, the master class also acts as a valuable mirror. Participants are given the opportunity to critically evaluate and refine their own leadership style. The program offers refreshing re-energization by taking participants out of their comfort zone and allowing them to return to their own organization with a fresh, new perspective on their current strategy and approach.
The first edition of the VUB Masterclass Series in Ostend on Future-proof Leadership & Strategy is by invitation only and limited in number of participants. The target group consists of toplevel business leaders from various sectors and prominent stakeholders in the social system, who are interested in refreshing and strengthening their leadership skills and strategic thinking.

Prof. dr. Elvira Haezendonck
Prof. Dr. Elvira Haezendonck is full time full professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Solvay Business School of the VUB, and part time visiting professor at the FB faculty of the University of Antwerp. For more than 25 years, she has developed significant expertise in the strategic and policy aspects of competition and clusters, as well as the evaluation of (port) projects and strategies, especially in the areas of infrastructure and sustainability. Her applied research, including in more than 100 research projects and numerous publications, aims to be primarily practical and policy-relevant. Since 2022, she is the first female president of the global association of maritime economic adacemics IAME and also President of Green Energy Park, which manages VUB's innovation campus in Zellik.

Prof. dr. Michel Maus
Prof. Michel Maus holds a law degree (1993), Special Licentiate in Tax Law (1994) and Doctor of Laws (2005), with a doctoral dissertation on the limits of tax control. In 2015, he co-founded the law firm "Bloom. Michel specializes in tax law and fraud law. He handles cases on all facets of tax law and tax criminal law. Michel is also a professor at the law faculty of the Free University of Brussels. He teaches the subjects 'Introduction to Tax Law', 'Personal Income Tax', 'Registration and Inheritance Tax', 'Tax Procedures' and 'Tax Criminal Law'.
