About the chair
From the Pain in Motion research group and De Berekuyl, European College for Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy the De Berekuyl chair was established. The chair focuses on research and teaching on the exercise immunology of chronic fatigue.
The chair is part of the Faculty of Physical Education and Physical Therapy.

Objectives
Scientific research
Through the chair we aim to encourage scientific research into the influence of physical exercise on the immune system and in relation to fatigue in patients with cancer and chronic fatigue syndrome
Service learning
At the professional Master programme De Berekuyl Oncological Physiotherapy, we want to organise service learning in:
- training principles/exercise physiology
- exercise immunology
- supervision and guidance of Master theses
- treatment of chronic fatigue
- education in epidemiology and literature studies
Chairholder
Prof. Dr. Jo Nijs
Prof. Dr. Jo Nijs is holder of the De Berekuyl Chair. Jo is a senior lecturer at VUB and a physiotherapist at UZ Brussels. In his clinical and scientific activities, he focuses on the treatment of 'unexplained' chronic pain and chronic fatigue.
