Student Welcome
The academic year is about to start, how exciting! If you want to be prepared, make sure to come to Student Welcome. Get to know your new study environment and fellow students. That way you'll feel right at home from day one!
Ready, set, study
Once you're enrolled, there are 4 to do's left on your list. Have you completed them all? Then you're ready to dive in!
Step 1 - Activate your VUB account
As soon as you're enrolled (after signing your online study contract), you'll receive an e-mail to activate your VUB account (within an hour of signing your online contract). Use this account to log in to the different VUB applications and portals and connect to campus wifi.
Step 2 – Register your courses
Has your VUB account been activated? Then you can register your courses online via the Student SelfService.
Be aware: not all students have to register their courses themselves
Check here whether you have to register your own courses
Once they are registered, your courses will be visible on your Canvas dashboard.
Step 3 - Tuition fee and financial support
You will receive the payment request for your tuition fee on your VUB e-mail account. Don't worry if you haven't received or paid the invoice yet by the time the academic year starts.
All about our tuition fees
If you qualify for a scholarship from the Flemish Government, you can request this online.

Step 4 – Arrange your public transportation card
After your enrolment, you'll receive your student card and enrolment certificate via e-mail and postal mail. Use this certificate to buy your public transportation pass. If you want to use the tram, metro and bus in Brussels, MIVB offers student prices. For the train ride to and from campus, you can acquire a student pass from NMBS.
