Ike Picone teaches and researches disruptions on the crossroad of journalism, technological innovations and democracy with a focus on news use practices. His research topics include user participation to online news, the changing relationship between news audiences and journalists, and the role of new media in the emergence of deliberative public spheres.
As a member of the Council for Journalism, he deliberates with journalists and media professionals about cases of journalism ethics. He teaches two mandatory courses in the Journalism and Media in Europe Master: Journalism: Trends and Technologies and Journalism Practice in Europe together with Professor Cristina Gonzalez. He supervises Master theses on digital disruption in journalism, news use studies, and journalistic innovation.
