All have expressed unreserved dismay at the seemingly deadlocked negotiations for a Brussels government. The Brussels publication describes "intense feelings of disbelief, helplessness, and frustration" among these local leaders. Danckaert remarked, "The sadness I initially felt has turned into outrage." He strongly urges politicians to resume talks, not only for the sake of Brussels' residents but also for the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). "The university needs the government," he stressed.
