Thursday, October 6, the annual VUB Kick-off will take place on the campus of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Etterbeek. The event allows the university to give its students the widest possible picture of all the options and services that are available to them, on and off campus. Alongside a host of information booths, there will be music, fun activities and snacks and drinks.

After 13 years, the VUB Kick-Off has become a tradition among VUB students and attracts more people each year. Support services, student associations and various Brussels organisations will be there to show what they have to offer students. To the beats of DJ Stecks and DJ Raffia, the lawns on the Etterbeek campus will be transformed into a veritable festival between 12.00 and 21.00.

On the stage in the middle of the green auditorium, production house cirQ will provide entertainment. Students can participate in the Belgian Just Dance championship or be shaken up during a crash test organised by the police. National and international student circles will be selling food and drinks at student-friendly prices.

VUB rector Jan Danckaert will also be there and will be pulling pints at the BSG bar between 12.00 and 13.00. “There is no better way to get to know VUB and Brussels as a student city than by raising a glass with old and new friends during the VUB Kick-Off,” he says. “In these troubled and uncertain times, students need support and connection more than ever. Through our information booths, they can discover what type of support they can get from each VUB department, student association or Brussels organisation. And through all kinds of fun activities and delicious food and drinks, they can get to know new people.”
