A seat in the European Parliament on Friday 29 September was highly sought after. Every seat in the building was occupied for the academic opening of the Free University of Brussels. From university dignitaries, politicians, to students and pensioners; all wanted to attend the VUB's declaration of love to Europe. And if they did not succeed, they could raise a glass to the academic opening afterwards at the reception in Leopold Park. Photographer Thierry Geenen captured the whole day.
