Two students from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) have been shortlisted for the prestigious mtech+ Award 2024, which recognises outstanding dissertations with a focus on technology and innovation. The nominated works showcase pioneering research and innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.

Viktor Laurens De Groote’s dissertation, “Multi-Robot Task and Motion Planning”, explores how teams of robots can perform complex tasks more efficiently by developing innovative planning algorithms. Manon Winnock’s dissertation, “Experimental Study of Diffusion Coefficient in High-Voltage LNMO Spinel Positive Electrodes”, focuses on enhancing the performance of lithium-ion batteries. Her work contributes to the development of more sustainable and efficient energy storage systems, a key component in the transition to greener energy. The mtech+ Award, an initiative by the Flemish Dissertation Prize, annually honours dissertations that advance technological innovation. The winner will receive a cash prize of €1,500. Finalists will also have the opportunity to present their research to a wider audience during the awards ceremony on 19 December.
