The pre-International Days Workshop on Intercultural Communications for all staff (16 & 23 October).
The Intercultural Communications Workshops is a two-day workshop on 16 & 23 October, organised with our colleagues from R&D in the framework of the International Days. The title of the workshop is "Meet people, not cultures & practice communication styles". This 2-day workshop is aimed at VUB employees (academic, administrative and managerial staff) who work on international topics, with international students, or with international staff, or are often in contact with people from a variety of countries and cultures. 11:00-14:00 INTERNATIONAL STAFF FAIR with info booths & sandwich lunch - @ The Lounge 1050
The staff fair specifically will give more information on grants for projects or individual mobility for VUB staff, on the procedures in place to go abroad, or to receive visiting staff, on how to organise international collaborations for courses, what digital tools are available, funding available, etc. The staff fair will include different teams from within the International Relations office, some faculties, R&D, TechTransfer, EUTOPIA, as well as some EUTOPIA university partners, HR, and more. 16:30-17:30 UDC CAREER AWARD - @ Building D, room D.2.01 (promotiezaal)
The University Development Cooperation (UDC) Career Award is awarded to a VUB member of staff who has a proven track record in university development cooperaton, an extensive network with partners in the Global South, and has remained accessible to the VUB community. The event will be followed by a reception. More information on the UDC Career Award event can be found online.

18:00-20:00 NETWORKING EVENT WITH INTERNATIONAL ALUMNI - @ Building D, room D.2.01 (promotiezaal)
Networking event for final year students to mix and mingle with VUB alumni working in international settings. Two speakers will give a talk at the event:
- "Co-creating evidence-based education at VUB and in South Africa (student group mobility)" - name tbc.
- "Working in an international environment", by Sylvie Van den Kerkhof, Vice-President Strategy, UPS Europe Region
The speeches will be followed by networking drinks where students can mingle and chat to VUB alumni who are active in international settings. More information on the event is available online.

THURSDAY 19 OCTOBER 2023
10:00-16:00 GO ABROAD FAIR FOR STUDENTS - @ Study Guidance Centre (Building F, esplanade).
The VUB has many, many opportunities for students to get an experience of a lifetime: go abroad for a couple of months or a year for studies or internships. The Go Abroad Fair 2023 will take place at the Study Guidance Centre and will showcase different organisations who will explain their opportunities to the students. Our colleagues from the VUB International Relations office will also be on hand to provide more information on the opportunities within the VUB and its partner institutions, the funding that is available, the procedures to follow, etc. There will also be two info sessions for students, one in-person on 19 October, and one online on 20 October. All information on how to attend the info sessions is available online. For the actual Go Abroad Fair, there is no need to register, so just come along on Thursday 19 October between 10:00 and 16:00! There is an opportunity to win prizes!
