Practical
At this event, three VUB researchers will share the biggest failures of their careers, openly discussing what went wrong and what they learned along the way. Following each story, there will be time for questions, allowing curiosity and conversation to flourish. Join us to hear from these three brave scientists:
- Bert Quintiens (Scientific Collaborator, End-of-Life Care)
- Jana Goyvaerts (Guest Professor, Department of Communication Studies)
- Jan De Beule (Professor, Mathematics and Data Science)
Don’t miss out on this unique gathering just before the Christmas holidays!
While the event is free, registration is mandatory.

Fuckup nights?
Fuckup Nights is a global movement active in over 300 cities and 90 countries, dedicated to sharing stories of failure. Openly admitting mistakes—whether to colleagues, managers, or strangers—isn’t always easy. People often fear criticism, blame, or even professional consequences. Yet, when we create spaces that encourage vulnerability, people feel empowered to share bold ideas, take risks, and learn from one another. This openness unleashes team potential, fosters innovation, and, ultimately, helps organizations become more agile and strategic. Oh, and it also leads to happier, more fulfilled individuals.
