Palestinian director Raed Andoni was jailed at 18 in the notorious Moscobiya prison in West Jerusalem, one of Israel’s many interrogation centers, where at least 750,000 Palestinian men have been imprisoned and tortured since 1967. In his documentary Ghost Hunting (2017), he assembles an eclectic group of ex-prisoners willing to confront their past by reconstructing the suffocating walls of their former prison.

Day after day, construction workers, a blacksmith, an architect, and an assistant director give shape to their memories - how they survived, how they endured, and how, even in the darkest moments, humor and resilience kept them human. As the walls of their cells rise, so do their voices, breaking through silence and fear.

Following the screening, we will be joined for a discussion with Wadee Hanani, assistant director of Ghost Hunting, along with journalist Lama Ghosheh and activist Fadia Barghouti, who will join via Zoom. All three have experienced detention firsthand and will share their personal accounts of resilience and resistance. The discussion is moderated by psychologist Ama Kissi.
