The Vrije Universiteit Brussel invites you to a lecture with world-renowned thinker Peter Singer.
Five decades ago, Australian bioethicist and philosopher Peter Singer exposed an uncomfortable truth in Animal Liberation: that our civilisation is built on the suffering of animals – and that we far too often choose to ignore that suffering. In his book, he made a powerful case to stop treating animals as mere objects. His argument was crystal clear: if suffering matters, then every being that can suffer matters. In 2024, he updated the book and it was re-released.
What’s changed in half a century? What has stayed the same? And how do animal rights weigh in on ecological, social and ethical choices in 2025? Expect an evening that confronts, challenges and provokes.
TICKETS AVAILABLE ON THIS PAGE FROM MONDAY 5 MAY 2025.
Combine this lecture with the Doctor Honoris Causa ceremony
In recognition of his societal contributions, Peter Singer will receive an honorary doctorate from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel on 6 June.
