When can you go on exchange during your studies?
You can go on an exchange in bachelor’s year 3 (semester 1 and/or 2) or master’s year 1 (semester 1 and/or 2).
Conditions to go on exchange
You need to:
- have passed you courses of bachelor year 1
- to have attained 60 ECTS (at the time of application, within current curriculum)
Students in a bridging or preparatory programme can also apply (the two previous rules do not apply to them)
How to apply for an exchange?
Nomination
Send a top 3 of your destinations via this form (deadline: December 6th 2024). Add a motivation letter (max. 1 page) explaining why you should be selected for the destination of your first choice (also via the form).
The exchange coordinators will select students for each destination. When multiple students apply for the same destination, a ranking is made based on the motivation letters and grades (if available).
The exchange nominators will contact students if they were selected for a destination from their top 3.
Learning agreement
Send a first proposal of your learning agreement to your exchange coordinator (deadline: February 3th 2025). Use the template “Document voorstel learning agreement” available on Canvas. Add a course description of selected courses (in English). You will receive feedback from the exchange coordinators on this proposal.
Send a revised and final learning agreement proposal to your exchange coordinator (deadline: March 3th 2025). The exchange coordinator decides if your revised LA can be approved. If your final LA is approved by the exchange coordinator, you will be officially nominated for an exchange at IRMO. IRMO will contact you and guide you through the rest of the application procedure.
