6 Open Call projects awarded to VUB Architectural Engineering

Great news. VUB Architectural Engineering was informed that 6 out of 8 Open Call project proposals we are partner in have been granted funding by Circular Flanders. We look forward to strengthening our role as research consultant, accelerating with frontrunners the transition towards a circular economy in construction.

Thanks to in total 8 Open Call projects, awarded by the hub and inspiration for the Flemish circular economy Circular Flanders (6 in 2018 and 2 in 2017), the work of VUB Architectural Engineering does not stay in the heads of our researchers or on our shelves. Together with 28 partners, we accelerate the transition towards a sustainable built environment.

Sustainable building methods are being improved and validated in concrete projects with private partners such as Facadeclick and societal organisations such as Labo Leegstand and Labland. With a dozen of material manufacturers and contractors, we work together in the Circular Retrofit Lab. New procurement and revenue models are being developed together with investors and service providers, for example for schools with contractor Van Roey, and for refurbishments with consultant Factor 4. And finally, with sector organization NAV and non-profit Bond Beter Leefmilieu our workshops empower public authorities and architects to demand and create circular solutions.
