The VUB collected 1,697 euros for Brussels Helps, the annual solidarity action of city broadcaster Bruzz, in which lots of Brussels institutions participate. This year, the money raised will go to Kinumai, an organisation working to make the city more accessible to people with mobile disabilities. The VUB restaurants in Etterbeek and Jette participated enthusiastically and sprinkled no less than 75 kilos of ground cheese on all those bolo’s.
The two VUB restaurants made it easy for VUB-ers to participate. Order and shove the legs under the table, that was it. But then it was done in abundance. For every plate of spaghetti, 1 euro went to charity.
At the Etterbeek resto, 1,345 visitors were able to indulge in no fewer than ten different spaghetti 's; two types per day. The offer varied from the ordinary spaghetti bolognaise to a spaghetti with pumpkin or from a carbonara to one with vegetable cream sauce. In total, about 350 litres of sauce were prepared, 65 kilos of cheese and 320 kilos of cooked pasta.
The resto in Jette tried just as hard and welcomed 352 diners during the Great Spaghetti Battle. The cooks there cooked forty kilos of pasta, fifty litres of vegetarian bolognaise, eighty litres of bolognaise sauce with meat and grated ten kilos of cheese over all that.
In all, this year's Brussels Helps action raised 48,460 euros for Kinumai. This year was the fifth edition organised by Bruzz.
